Cheryl Frey is a painter, illustrator, designer and art instructor living and working on Long Island. Recently, I have been exploring life’s destinations and how they are recorded. I am fascinated with how people have documented their memories; presently and in the past with social and pictorial fervor. My images deal with the contradiction of letting go but at the same time wanting to forever hold on. Filtered photos and high definition videos help create an over the top and almost “too sharp” memory. I believe the photographs that we take are never the complete story of our memories and our minds fill in the blanks of what was left behind. My work combines the forgotten with the documented to create a surrealistic image of our memories. Art Description: acrylic/canvas and cut paper and resin on panel. www.freyrichards.com freyrichardsart@gmail.com
Lynn Aliamo is a photographer whose work showcases landscapes and places of architectural interest. Always in search of the “perfect shot,” Lynn’s love of natural light allows her to capture “the true flavor, or essence, of that particular place.” With an impeccable sense of detail, her photography works to capture the cultural zeitgeist of each given location. Madeleine Segall-Marx is a sculptor, and painter. This exhibition is a survey of paintings spanning several decades, which explore color through landscape, abstraction, and figuration. Segall-Marx has completed four public works, plus a bronze baby dragon at Northern Dutchess Hospital. Her 10-year art project, which addresses listening to the enemy as an alternative to waging war, is installed at the barn at WaveCrest, in Hyde Park. Consisting of 25 works, paired with 25 personal stories from people caught in war, it can be viewed on a tour by appointment from June through November. Previously an instructor of figurative sculpture, she began her career casting series of works in bronze. She now works in myriad mediums primarily devoting time to painting. From 1999 to 2002 she was president of the National Association of Women Artists (NAWA). Her work has received over 40 awards, including Dutchess County Executive Award to an Individual. in 2006. info@listeningtotheenemy.com. www.segallmarx.com
